Job Description: We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Farmhand to join our team and contribute to the successful operation of our farm. As a Farmhand, you will be responsible for various tasks related to livestock care, field work, nursery management, light construction, and operating machinery. Your primary goal will be to ensure the smooth functioning of our farm operations, while maintaining a high standard of animal welfare, crop production, and farm maintenance.
Responsibilities:
1 - Livestock Care:
- Feed, water, and monitor the health of livestock.
- Maintain clean and comfortable living conditions for the animals, including cleaning barns and animal enclosures.
- Assist with birthing processes, if necessary.
- Administer medications and vaccinations to ensure the well-being of the animals.
2 - Field Work:
- Participate in planting, cultivating, and harvesting of crops, following proper farming practices.
- Operate farm equipment, such as tractors, chainsaws, mowers, and weed-eaters, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor crop growth and identify potential issues like pests, diseases, or irrigation problems.
3 - Nursery Management:
- Care for nursery items, including young plants and trees, ensuring they receive appropriate water, nutrients, and protection from pests and harsh weather conditions.
- Transplant, prune, and propagate nursery items as required.
- Maintain an organized and tidy nursery area.
4 - Light Construction:
- Assist in constructing and maintaining farm structures, such as fences, gates, and sheds.
- Repair and maintain existing infrastructure and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations during construction and maintenance tasks.
5 - Machinery Operation:
- Safely operate and maintain farm machinery, following manufacturer's guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and perform minor repairs when necessary.
- Ensure machinery is cleaned and stored properly after use.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in farming or related agricultural work is preferred.
- Familiarity with livestock care, crop cultivation, and nursery management is preferred.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery.
- Basic knowledge of construction techniques and tools.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a sense of responsibility towards animals and the environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming practices and technologies.
- Good communication skills to work effectively with other team members.
